Three Small Joys That Are Gently Reigniting My Creativity

Three Small Joys That Are Gently Reigniting My Creativity

Getting back into my creative rhythm has been harder than I expected. After traveling, grieving, and just being in the world these past few weeks, I’ve felt extremely tired. My energy has been low, and so has my inspiration. But I’ve been trying to stay open—to the small things, the soft sparks, the quiet nudges back to myself.

Here are three little joys that are helping me reconnect with my creative flow. Not in a big, dramatic way—but in a way that feels kind and real.

1. 🌼 Flowers—and Crocheting Them

I’ve always loved flowers. Lately, I’ve been drawn to bright blooms and soft earthy tones, and I’ve been picking up my crochet hook to make little flower pieces. I’m not following any rules—I’m just experimenting. It’s tactile, repetitive, and somehow comforting. There’s something healing about making something small, colorful, and totally imperfect.

2. 🧵 Watching Other Artists Create

When I scroll TikTok and see other artists sharing their work, their stories, and their messy creative processes, it reminds me I’m not alone. There’s no one-size-fits-all way to make art or to build an art business. Seeing how others show up with honesty and variety makes me feel like I have permission to be where I’m at—and to move forward in my own way.

3. 🌄 Remembering Tennessee

Even though I’m still processing everything that happened while I was away, part of me keeps returning to Tennessee. The landscape, the light, the stillness—it’s stayed with me. I’m wondering if I might create a new series inspired by that place: the stacked trees, the glowing fireflies, the winding hills, the open sky. It’s just a thought right now, but it’s one that brings a little excitement back to my heart.

I don’t have all the answers, and I’m definitely not running full-speed ahead. But these small joys are gently waking something in me. And I’m reminding myself that coming back to creativity can be slow, soft, and nonlinear.

If you’re in a similar space, just know you’re not behind. You’re just in process. And process is sacred too.
